TO ALL PEOPLE OF GOOD WILLThe humanity has entered an era that defies limitations of time and space and sees civilizations and cultures engage in dialogues and partnerships. Events taking place in the most remote areas of the planet resonate all over the world. The new 21st century calls for assessment of the humankind’s progress and decisions for its future. The political world has long been closing its eyes on the threat of genocides – the Armenian Genocide, the Holocaust, Rwanda and now Darfur. For almost a century, the recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide committed by the Ottoman Empire in 1915 continues to remain relevant and important, as the genocide is an ultimate crime against humanity and an ultimate violation of human rights. The genocide is not only about loss of lives, it is about destruction of cultural values that will never be replaced. Until the Turkish authorities do not recognize and condemn the Armenian Genocide, it will continue to remain as one of the most important issues on the agenda of the civilized world. The recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide is not only Armenians’ concern, it is a concern for everyone in the world and a key prerequisite for prevention of such atrocities and acts of terrorism in the 21st century. On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, we call on all people of good will and expect to enlist their support for recognition of all genocides that happened in the world, and the Armenian Genocide specifically. We call to join your voice to the implementational action entitled “21st Century Without Genocides and Terrorism” and be sure that your one voice, along with many others, will help save lives of at least one child, if not thousands of innocent people who continue to fall victims to the acts of terrorism happening around the globe.
